Remember when you were a young child and, [Insert melodramatic flashback music here] in a sudden gust of youthful bravado, you'd steel yourself up for some seemingly daunting and daring challenge....
...like riding a bike for the first time?
...or climbing to the top of the monkey bars?
...or swinging on the playground swing higher than anybody had ever swung before?
Chances are you can still remember, all these years later, the joyous feelings of wonder and exhilaration you had at those moments.
You probably also remember how huge and dangerous and monumental these goals appeared to you in your mind.
But you did them.
Even though you were a little afraid...
Even though you didn't really know if you'd succeed or not....
Even though you didn't know exactly how you were gonna perform these fantastic feats...
You screwed up the courage and you did them.
Some times you succeeded.
Some times you failed.
But you did them just the same...
And then you moved on to the next big challenge.
Today, through the lens of time, it's easy to think of those childhood adventures as silly and unimportant, while the challenges you face today are....
[Insert trumpet fanfare here]
"...much bigger..."
and
"...more important...."
Maybe they are.
Or maybe they aren't.
Or maybe you're still looking at them through the same eyes you had as a child, making them bigger and scarier than they need to be.
If that's the case, then maybe you should let that plucky youngster of yesterday tackle today's challenges they way you did back then...
....With a touch of trepidation....
....a gust of bravado....
....and a boundless heart....
– A heart that experiences more joy in the adventure than the outcome.
